TotW: Introspective

Once in a while it's necessary to have a good look at oneself and find out how you're actually doing. Or, after unexpected performance, good or poor, ask yourself the question: "How the heck did I do that?". If the WWS stats show that you have insane critical hits, it's useful to know where they come from. As is knowing why exactly is some or all of your abilities have a high miss rate.

The statistics is very useful for analysing the reasons, but short on providing you with tools for how you can fix it. Enter some other sites to the rescue:
  • TalentChic - Helps you tweak your talents. Lists the most popular talent builds for each class.
  • BeImba - Analyses your character and points out and suggests missing or inappropriate caps, enchants and gems.
  • MaxDps - Gear analyser that helps you balance your kit and suggest upgrades/alternatives.

Bonus tip: If you have problems interpreting the statistics, it is a good idea to "crowdsource" it. Don't be afraid of posting questions in the Class forums to get help. Reading those pesky numbers isn't for everyone, but there's plenty of help available just for the asking.

The Elitist Jerks [link] forums have spreadsheets for just about every class and spec.

For example, it shows Mongoose as the 2nd best rogue weapon enchant after Berserker even if it is TBC.

Yes, Elitist Jerks is another good resource. I did consider to include it too, but it's quite heavy on the math and theory and decided that it's not an easy accessible resource. But, for those who want to go deeper, it's a natural place to stop by. Also, for tanks in particular, tankspot.com is a very good resource.
